Identifying Attitudes of Married Women Between the Ages of 15 and 49 Living in Elazig Province of Turkey Towards Reproductive Health

Abstract
Introduction: Reproductive health affairs have traditionally been associated with fertility; therefore, the focus has been on women, which has a more important role to play in this function. This study was carried out to identify the attitudes of married women towards reproductive health.
Materials and Methods: The population was comprised of all 15 to 49-year-old married women registered for the Number 63 Family Practice Center, which was located in Elazig, Turkey. The study was completed with 246 participants who agreed to participate. The data analysis involved mean scores, standard deviation values, numbers and percentages, an independent sample t-test, ANOVA, and Tukey’s Honest Significant Difference (HSD).
Results: The mean age of the participants was 34.06±7.9 years. The mean score of the participants in the SIRH was 143.49±16.28. Whereas the sub-scale with the highest mean score was seeing a doctor for problems associated with reproductive health (34.92±5.95), the one with the lowest mean score was protection against reproductive cancers and breast cancer (7.19±4.19).
Conclusion: The participants had an intermediate mean score in the overall SIRH. To improve their reproductive health, women should be enabled to benefit from primary training opportunities and trained by health care professionals in how to maintain their reproductive health. It is also recommended that reproductive health services should be popularized.
